Welcome Film Makers, Konvas, Kinor, and LOMO Users!

This website (as well as the discussion list) are dedicated to sharing information and resources on motion picture equipment designed and built in Russia and the former Soviet Union (USSR), mainly (but not exclusively) the Kinor 16mm, Kinor 35mm and Konvas series 35mm motion picture cameras, and LOMO lenses.

Things you will often see talked about here are the beautiful Russian Lomo lenses (and how some are even using them on their HD cameras); the MOS Konvas 1M, 2M, 7M, and 8M 35mm cinema cameras; the quieter, more studio oriented, 35mm Kinor 35C and 35H; the Rodina 35mm; the Temp SKL; the PSK, KSU, KSK, & KSM 35mm cameras; the Druzhba 35mm; the Kinor 16, and sometimes the Krasnogorsk-3 (K3) & Kiev 16mm cameras, among other Russian Cinema Gear. We do talk a lot about cinema though, and don't always necessarily stay in the realm of Russian made film equipment.

Help Konvas.org (Donate)

The Konvas.org website and discussion list system is much more stable and reliable than any previous email discussion list system we've had over the past decade. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time and money to run a website and discussion list of this magnitude. We had been trying to offset the costs by running ads and such on the site, and not trying to ask for donations. But the ads can't pay for all of the work and maintenance. While even a little something is better than nothing, the current global economic crisis has almost entirely dried up that little bit of funding from ads that we had received. Basically, at this point, internet ads aren't even able to pay for our hosting costs, let alone any work or maintenance. So this is where you are needed.

Feature Film: Possession

Dan Cordle recently wrote to me letting me know about his latest feature film, "Possession":
We shot the feature film "Possession" with a Red, Konvas and Eyemo, all using Lomos. We have first draft of a website (pretty dorky, but it will get better) at www.possessionthefilm.com. We're also on facebook at: www.facebook.com/pages/Possession-the-Film/226693014014606
Ian Dudley is the DP and did a great job.
I Produced, Directed, did 2nd Unit cinematography. Terry Byrne and I shot the high speed 16mm titles seqeuence together.
Scribe Films is the parent company
The film turned out very well. We've made the regular sundance deadline and are hoping to get accepted.

Join The Konvas And Kinor Discussion List!

As we said above, we're dedicated to sharing information and resources on former USSR motion picture equipment. Join our group discussion list and join in on the conversations. Have a question, and it's not in the FAQ? We can probably answer it. Need someone to work on your Konvas or Kinor gear? Thinking about buying from someone on ebay, but don't know who to trust? We can probably help. But before you post, please take a look at our archives and get to know us a little!
