I have 2 small (compared to a car battery) 12v lead/acid (gel cell) batteries wired in series in a plastic battery carrier. The batteries are the size of smaller motorcycle batteries and are used to back up things like alarms and electric gates. I wire them in series to get 24v. The charge lasts for a very long time. When it's time to charge them, I got an automatic electronic charger for $70 that is designed to slow charge car batteries and gel cell lead/acid. I disconnect the 2 12v batteries from each other and charge them separately. It charges reasonably quickly, like 5 hours or less for a full charge. I think I put
each battery pack together for about $100 (I made 2) plus the charger. Reliable and cheap. I have drawn up plans to improve the wiring connections and to flip a switch for charging so I don't have to separate the batteries for, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I need to finish installing the 4 pin xlr connector in the case as well. I bought everything I needed from a national distributor of mostly automotive batteries, Interstate Battery. I suspect any larger supplier would have everything you need.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV>Bruce Taylor</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV><BR> </DIV><BLOCKQUOTE style="PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: rgb(16,16,255) 2px solid"><BR><BR><PRE>hi all, just to have some tips ....
