S16mm is also still used by production companies although Arri Alexa is very popular as a rental camera especially for music and Commercial production but there are so many 16mm camera?s available, Rental firms offer very cheap rates for colleges, schools etc with very attractive packages for lenses, lights, sound gear so 16mm is still holding on. Even Kodak offer specials deals to sell their 16mm stock. Ofcourse 35mm is much better but for economics 16mm rules. Many archives were stored on 16mm and need to be digitised, this is a huge business and digital transfer houses just cannot cope with the demand. The problem is shipping costs, 16mm is cheaper to post but it all depends on the total package costs so if you can keep your prices competitive then you have a great opportunity here to attract business from Europe. Time will tell. My two pence worth. Until we really get the ball rolling. I will set up eTenebrisEntertainment at gmail.com at PPal officially in a day or two. I know they charge a fee to me for each transaction but for now that's fine. I will have a work-order form too. We need to know if the footage is camera negative etc, if it has at least a couple of feet of leader/footer (if not I will have to charge to add it), if there is known shrinkage, how to incorporate insurance, what files to output (RAW is native here) etc. We won't be doing color/timing (at first at least). As for time scale on 35mm? Now I guess. We have it actually up and running. Turn around safe to bet on a week until we have our workflow arranged and the bugs ironed out of our customer service methods. Oh, speaking of customers, they must supply storage drive(s) of course (ship with the reel or ship to us new from Amazon etc) or send money for us to buy it local and ship back with the reel accordingly thereafter. Those fancy G-drives are all the craze (IMax uses them behind the scenes BTW) what with their thunderbolt3 ports and all. We don't have a site up yet but should soon. Yeah! Exciting stuff :-) and I hope we can have a small hand in making film workflow affordably possible to independents!
