At least, that's what I last read. The limited release is supposed to come with an all gray body and was going to be priced around $2K. The general release will be have the option of a black or white body color and was supposed to be around $700. So, still waiting. It seems as it is going to happen though; from what I've read, Kodak is also busy setting up a few labs around the country specifically to accommodate Super 8 and other film related stuff. Not sure of the max speed on it but I do think they're all crystal. I thought you owned a Beaulieu 6008 or 7008? No? I think those are capable of 58fps or thereabouts. Pin registration? No, I don't think that was ever incorporated into a S8 camera, but am not positive. I'm unsure about your rotating shutter question too. I think most S8 cameras use a split beam finder. I'd be wary of any Super 8 camera that uses electronics to open/close the aperture or where the aperture is a part of the light meter; if the electronics go, so will the ability to change f-stops. This is why Beaulieu is popular among advanced S8 users - manual lenses just like in 16 and 35mm. The Kodak camera will feature an all manual lens of that type - any C-mount lens, in fact. You can certainly get S8 tape, rewinds, viewers, cleaning supplies, etc. Urbanski Film has the largest amount of such supplies that I'm aware of. Hope that helps. Cheers! It's nice to hear that there is a super-8 with pin registration. (The Kodak and Logmar look identical.) Do these cams typically use a kind of side-to-side shutter or spinning disk? Gosh but it would be cool if one had an adjustable shutter angle. Maybe I missed the info in a previous thread reply... Got the Logmar docu up on Vimeo for a looksee. The Canon 814 has a 'variable shutter' whatever that means... These are noisy little beasts at any rate! Will require a major blimp for sound work. Light enough to fly on a gimbal though! Or drone! Fascinating possibilities. But not for ~2500$! Bolex made a S8 camera but it only goes to 36fps. And I think you need to wear shiny silver pants with a sweater tied around your neck and 'crocs' to be a totally legit operator of that one... Any you'uns been looking at the super-8 digitizers? Some cool ones out there. Wonder if any of 'em will work with Resolve's capture mode. Oh hey, HUGE question, one Scott will likely have some info on: Blair Witch Project, at the end, the 16CP camera drops to the floor and the film pull-down mis-aligns with the shutter causing a smeared image. Or maybe it's the film jumping out of the gate somehow? This is such a BADASS effect, does anyone know how they did it? In-camera, or post? The movie release was before any real digital effects were available to independent film producers so I'm inclined to guess they did it with a projector that would do the same on command and just captured the clip with a synchronized camera pointed at the screen; although, maybe it was just luck? The sound effects to go with it are extraordinary for selling the shot and completing the exceptionally scary climax of the film. Well, scary for me at least. I know you either love or hate that film. Hope this email finds everyone well. Thanks for passing that along, Nicholas! "Not only modeled but also designed by Logmar. Both software and 'hardware'. With manufacturing farmed out to undisclosed third parties. Logmar is also working on a handheld small load under (25lb) 65mm camera with swingout LCD screen...similar to the Logmar." -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Tons of mags, viewfinders, batteries, et. al. included. Here?s the link: http://www.motifsets.com/gear/ Pretty much everything has a case. I?m in Los Angeles; and shipping just about anywhere would be cost prohibitive so local pick up is best. I?m letting all this go to the first 2k. There a few cheap examples on eBay. But I would highly recommend a CLA by Richard Bennet of Cinema Engineering. The mag/trandport must be lubed after every load! It needs to be recalibrated and collimated, but since there is no info on it anywhere and the markings are really weird, there is no way for the technician to understand what he needs to refer to, which is why I'm asking for help. We suspect it is a macro lens, but don't understand the markings on it because they don't make sense with the operation of the lens (Probably because the PL mount wasnt calibrated properly) Info anyone ? Steve , you played with yours yet ? :D Also, Steve, does your Diopter looks like the one in the attached picture ?
