When I used to live in Melbourne many years ago I too used to drive on the trams tracks, my old Holden car was the same width as the tracks and it did give you a smoother ride. Perhaps it could have been "devilment" on my part as you were supposed to keep to the left of the tracks at all times and overtake the tram on the inside not the outside. The original trams were based on the San francisco design but electrified. Infact, I have just obtained some rare archive sound recordings of these trams with their distinctive sounding bell and creaking wooden carriages.
I think it is important that all these films and sound recordings are made available to the public as evidence that life in the old days was not all doom and gloom infact, it may have been better than we thought.

I have been asked to recreate a 4 engined Imperial Airways Hannibal from the pilots POV which I am looking forward to putting together. TV people are filming the interiors in Maureen Ohara's old Sandringham flying boat in Southampton which they are converting into a Hannibal.

Isn't life grand. Rita
