How-To Thread the Konvas-1 KMZ Top-Latch Mag

If you want to load the older gray top-latch Konvas 1 made by the KMZ facility in Russia (which is not to be confused with the newer Konvas 1M), here's a few pics of one properly loaded:

Notice that there are a lot of pins to feed in this magazine style over the side-latch 200ft magazine?


It looks complicated, but it is fairly easy to do once you know how to load the mag.

Practice makes perfect though - you'll want to load the magazine with some leader or old can of film about 50 - 100 times blindfolded before putting in your first roll of film to shoot - nothing like having a massive jam and wasting a lot of time trying to fix a massive issue on a live set with lots of people waiting around...
